Originally from Tyler, Texas, John has extensive experience playing and performing music from many genres, from Big Band Jazz to Power Trio Rock, from Country to Rhythm & Blues, and Gospel. A veteran musician for over 40 years, John studied string and brass instruments at an early age. His passion for bass began in his early teens playing with local bands and in high school and college stage bands. This gave him the opportunity to play with other musicians 5 to 7 days a week.

He was influenced by James Jamerson, Chuck Rainey, Ray Brown, Mel Schacher, Jack Bruce, Stanley Clarke, Alphonso Johnson and Jaco Pastorius. John has played live music and shared the stage with The Breifcase Blues Band, Buddy Miles, Lance Lopez, Lucky Peterson and Bernard Wright. He has jammed with Stanley Clarke in concert, recorded with Kirk Covington in session, and performed with Bobby Sparks, with the Dallas based band The Daredevils, as well as many others.

John is the bass player's bass player and an avid gear hound, he's been known to bring a different bass and amp to practice every time!!!  Some of it is downright amazing.  Jim is quite envious of his red Bag End speaker cabinet.

No, he's never heard that he looks like Randy Jackson...  be sure and tell him.
